In Standard Blue Max Game 331504, on Turn 15 RAKRAK shot down my Halb. Cl.IIa with his observer. Since RAKRAK is flying in a S.E.5a scout single seater he doesn't have an observers. I probablly would have gone down with that shot anyway no matter what gun was used....
Also RAKRAK was shot down by my (Jasta6) observer in a Halb. Cl.IIa. As RAKRAK was coming from my side and had to point his plane at me to shoot my plane, my shot should have been a head On from my observer. Yet I shot off his tail. Shouldn't that have been transfered to his engine? Problem is for some reason my shot is showen as a deflection shot so it went into the tail. See turn entry below;
15. jasta6 fired at RAKRAK, distance 1 with deflection. 5 points. Damage B (Base:7,Stb:+1,1Gun:-2,Defl:-1,Dice:+2). 15. RAKRAK fired at jasta6, distance 1 with deflection. 7 points. Damage BB (Base:7,Stb:+2,Speed:-1,Defl:-1,Dice:+2).
15. jasta6 was shot down by RAKRAK's observer. 15. RAKRAK was shot down by jasta6's observer.
The scout plane "ghost observer" is just a minor bug of the combat summary table. Obviously, it was the pilot! It's best to just ignore that one.
Regarding the second part of your message, all observer shots are with deflection unless the target is directly behind the two-seater and facing directly towards or directly away from it.
