Sounds to me like a definite bug. IIRC, in the original game rules, you drew all your damage chits at once. I believe all damage chits were unique, therefore you could not have more than one gun destroyed in one turn. This also applies to the 'kill' chits. I can't remember if there's a 'Pilot Killed' blue chit, but I do know there's an 'Observer Killed' blue. We were having such a problem with observers dying in our live game, we re-assigned all death chits to reds. Since we tracked pilots in a kind of campaign mode, this effectively doubled the life expectancy of an observer from 2 to 3 missions, to a whopping 6 to 8. We figured this translated from 1 to 3 days in actual service to maybe a week. That still seems a bit short on the average to me.
Impailer In the original rules you did draw all damage chits from all attacks on one plane at the same time (without replacing any chits). While there were duplicate chits, the "gun destroyed" chit was not one of them. Therefore, it should not be possible to have this result. However, the site clearly does not implement the original rule; "The player should not return any chits to the cup until all damage chits have been drawn." A friend noted this situation to me many months ago, when one of his aircraft took three Red chits; all 8 Wing. He noted the situation because the original chit collection only had two such chits in it.
There is a Blue Pilot Kill chit. It is commonly known as the "Double Pilot Kill" chit, since it has Pilot Kill on both sides. Most experienced Blue Max player knows to remove this chit from the chit selection for a game. |
