Which comes back to the orignal point of this discussion. How did the Point system work in WWI?? Of course, it's all artificial. SO why worry about it? IF you go by way of your thinking, the first time you are shot down, you should never play again, because your dead!!!!
The points are simply a way of arbitrating a winner. So, yes, you can win in this game, even though you were shot down. Frustrating?? Sometimes. Realistic? Nope, not by a long shot. Does it really matter??
As far as retiring, I"m glad there are those of you who won't leave no matter what. Makes it much easier to rack up kills when you refuse to leave the game, when you've a blown engine, or out of fuel.
