The pilot involved was William Barker. What is even more remarkable is that he received 3 serious wounds that caused him to pass out during the combat. Here is one of the web sites that list his accomplishments http://www.constable.ca/barker.htm

Barker was a Canadian pilot and was born about 60 miles from my home town.
