What would be the logic in following a Bristol with a rear gunner shooting you to bits? The Bristol player would simply have to stay out of the line of fire from his opponent. The Hun pilot would have to be suicidal to try and follow.
I tend to allow my engineless opponents to leave the field of battle...if I know he will do the same if things were reversed. Some will pursue you endlessly while others will let you leave.
That's honorable...and we are supposed to represent the knights of the Sky no?
