| Message text In Game # 536553, we encountered a MAJOR boarding bug that I had not seen prior to this. Montagne fouled with the riggingless Royal George in rake position. Boarding parties were set, but Montagne did not commit all of her crew, so she fired a hull rake upon the riggingless Royal George - forcing the Royal George to surrender by immobility, as the Montagne is an SOL 1 and the Gibraltar, the only British SOL 1 other than Royal George, was not within 10 hexes. This all was well and good. However, for some unexplained reason the Royal George's OBPs still conducted their boarding action. In any case, the melee that should never have taken place was inconclusive, with a few minor causualites on each side. This was a bug. Then, at the end of the next move, after the Montagne conducted it's normal combat operations of shooting nearby British ships, she was suddenly declared to be in British hands - the OBP was still on-board the Montagne, where they never should have been, and presumably they were still operating as an active OBP, for they captured the Montagne without a melee. This is the major bug. This is the reason so many of us avoid Basic Rules games, as they are so problematic as to be completely unpredictable. Our coalition goes from a winning position to a completely compromised position. Please either make a concerted effort to fix the Basic Rules, or turn them off. If you need help with testing or identifying problematic areas, let me know, I can help. Thanks, Derek |
