Ah, you're right, I had just looked at the 0-0 score which I know means you lose even though the other guy surrendered.
So, I amend my statement, it is that since the score was 0-0, and he surrendered, you did lose.
But part 2 is WHY is it 0-0? The reason is..... Another bug. When a ship has excess crew and is sunk, you score 0.
We need some fixes here.
