In a normal WSIM game, you will win the game if you score more points. However the same cannot be said for a game in WSIM league. You could be declared the "winner" for statistic purpose but the "looser" in league points if you have less ships (in %) than your opponent has at the end of the game.
Look at the rules
http://www.youplay.it/play/tn_Rules.asp and you will find some obscure rulings about this percentage loss thing. Alex (avallega) pointed it out to me in league 4440. This is why in many of those 2 player WSIM leagues, you are declared the winner of the game but the league points went to the opponent!

With this kind of rules there is no point to try a "100 turns come back victory" by points if your enemy has more ships than you at the end of the game. You might as well surrender and save some time.
A good example of the current injustice is this game:
http://www.youplay.it/play/ws_GameMove.asp?GameID=476344I won the game for statistical purpose but I lost the 3 league points to my opponent.

I should have surrendered turns ago to save time.
I propose we change the WSIM league scoring to this:
The player(s) or side with the highest game score will be the winner of the WSIM league games. And they will be entitled to the league points of a winner. I agree. I also would eliminate (for WS&IM Leagues) the "sometimes you get 3 points for a win, on rare occassions you get 4 points and on even rarer occasions 5 points are awarded"
This much seemingly random variation in scoring are not helpful. I say this for two reasons: First, leagues can be won or lost simply because one player received the gift of 4 or 5 points in a game; and, Secondly, as a strong player one would expect that I would get 4 and 5 point bonuses often, but I do not.
This is why I see these "extra points" awarded at random rather than somehow being awarded solely for skillful play/results. I have sunk my opponent's entire fleet with out losing a single ship, and do not believe I have ever recieved more than 3 points per win. Additionally, if your opponent surrenders, you get 3 points regardless of where the game stood at the time.
That is my 2 cents on the issue.
