Thanks for this topic. I can only get more good reading material. I have read a couple more war novels than romance novels (which means that I have read a couple), not enough to voice a decent response. I will have to add a few that get posted here to my long list of non-war books that I am reading.

Ilium by Dan Simmons is my vote! I just had to babble long enough to think of something worthy. You gents would probably call it science fiction, but it is an excellent retelling of the Iliad with twists gallore.
Now that I stuck my foot into science fiction war novels.... What about Legend by David Gemmel, or Enders War by Orson Scott Card, Forever War by Joe Haldeman, or the all time greatest war novel ever... Dune by Frank Herbert. |
