It is based on the Air Force/Dauntless game engine, but with added complexity. Though I liked the additional details, I did not find it works well as a game. For one, the planes in WWI were much slower, thus most moves require at least two continuous turns of plotting (i.e. an immelman). As well, you had to plot the entire move. Whereas in AF/Dauntless, you could just plot "climb straight 3" for one turn, then in the next turn you could do any move that required three straight.... (for example). I found this makes the game more unpredicable (and thus fun).

However, I do have them both. The completist in me would not have it any other way |
