My advise is to first read the rules(boring) or learn the hard way(like I did).
Second, get to know the various planes and how they move. (Extremely helpful in trying to anticipate the enemy)
The rest is a matter of logical thinking, experience, and a little luck.
Lastly, try not to be totally drunk when playing.
