Honorable Webmasters:
I note that a plane that retires honorably is still considered "on the Map for purposes of determining league victors, etc.:

Along those lines, I think that a plane that retires "dishonorably" should get a "-1" score for that pilot, as if they were shot down. This is consistent with the above rule and the fact that planes that retire dishonorably are treated for game victor purposes as if they had in fact been shot down.
This modification would try to keep pilots from running off the wrong sides of the map with minimal consequences, especially if their "side" is ahead and/or eventually wins that particular game.
Also, it would be nice to have a Kills/Death "+/- counter on the league page for that specific league, so that the pilots therein can see how they are doing kills/deaths wise in that particular league, in addition to league and overall points calculations.
Just some thoughts.
