What's the "best" allied aircraft and why?
I think "best" means "most competitive for longest". The Snipe might be an uber-plane but arrives too late to be included, in my opinion.
As someone who flies Albatrosses wherever possible, I find the F.2B a real bastard to deal with. There's no easy angle to deal with it, so it is the "best" allied aircraft.
Of the single seaters there's no real standout although the SE5A probably comes closest. The rest are "okay" with regard to their competitors.
But it's not like the Germans who can graduate from the excellent Alb DIII into the equally excellent Fok DVII when it becomes available. Every Allied aircraft has weaknesses and strengths whereas German players have such an obvious choice with regard to "best" that they really need to
choose a weaker plane if they want to do something different.
