Neverthless, due to the fuel factor and it's lack of maneuvers 10-11 is somehow less liked than other planes. In the board game the best feature of the original plane, it's engine power, can't be exploited because rules do not contemplate the climbing rate and do not consider it's engine superiority. It was able to hold, at highest altitude, the same HorsePower of the ground level.
Anyway the designer managed to give the DVII a sort of it's original dreadnought status : sturdy, decently nimble and a "solid" engine (8). This way I feel very nice playing on a DVII, and I keep playing in some situation where I would disengage, with any other plane :

This game I decided not to leave and try a last pass on the Snipe, and made 5or6 moves with 0 fuel. I've done because the nice position, who makes a last frontal pass not impossible, and allows me to retire in case of retaliation.
Well, was a lucky shot and the Snipe had just one gun left, and my crate was not too badly damaged.
Sometimes we discussed about giving the DVII more fuel. I guess that stats, and general DVII characteristics (in the board game) makes it dreadful enough yet. If we could add the quote rules in the advanced game... I'd never leave this flying dreadnought |
