| | Message text Yeah... pick up ASL Starter Kit 1. It's still in stock at MMP. It is great, then you can expand to kit 2, then 3, then, they say, you are practically at full ASL except for the chrome. Personally I think that I am stopping at the kit, which is supported through their magazine and will have future scenario packs. Also, A Las Barricadas is very interesting, kind of ASL light. See preorder list on MMP for a sense of it. It is pretty quick to learn. For mee I've got too many games to play. The current ones are ASLSK, Eastfront II, A las barricadas, and waiting for Devil's Cauldron, and ocassionally Wings of war.

I *think* ASL is not more complicated than SL. It was meant to be a revision with clearer rules and less conflicts, if I remember correctly. From the BGG website: Advanced Squad Leader is the completely reorganized and redesigned version of the original Squad Leader system. While ASL is 'advanced', it actually is a simpler game than the original Squad Leader became after the first gamette. |
