You were shot by the observer, not the pilot. The fire rules are interpreted to apply only to the pilot. Fire means a small engine fire, not that the plane is engulfed in flames.
Your point is both correct and incorrect. With regard to the original rules, any plane, including the rear gunner of a two-seater, which is on fire, may not shoot. That version of the rules apparently assumes a plane is engulfed in flames. You can still find this in the on-line rules. That is what prompted my looking into the situation. However, the site did not implement this rule, and allows rear gunners to fire when an aircraft is on fire. More importantly, is the fact that the site’s rules have actually been modified to reflect the way the site is programmed. Given my posts on other threads, it seemed proper to acknowledge when the software and the rules agree. |
