Still the question remains...You had an engine and fuel and your opponent was gliding for 30 turns...and you were unsble to shoot them down

I'm not trying to insult because you ARE a very worthy pilot and peer. But this scenerio is very curious. I DO agree though-with fuel and/or engine disabled-this should only grant the pilot 3 more turns, then KABOOM! I hope this idea is seriously considered.
