According to the rules as written, he gains points for being the top scorer, on the winning team. He already lost half his points.
If we want to change these rules, we'd need a lot more to chime in here.
I do see your point, it's a sneaky way to win, but perhaps you just remember this tactic the next time you are in the same situation? |
