http://www.youplay.it/play/bm_GameMove.asp?GameID=225655The rules state:
Fire: The aircraft’s engine is on fire. Place a fire marker on the plane. A player whose aircraft is on fire may not tail, shoot his guns, or perform restricted maneuvers. See Fire Damage and Extinguishing Fire/Smoke for further information.
However:
20. Tower damaged by fire.
20. Tower fired at HeadMMoid, distance 1 with deflection. 7 points. Damage RR (Base:7,Stb:+2,1Gun:-2,Defl:-1,Long:+1,Dice:+6).
19. Tower damaged by fire.
Observers can always shoot, even if the plane is on fire... BTW, they can also unjam guns even if the plane does not perform a straight move...
So... stay away from 2-seaters !!!

As to the unjamming by observers, I agree.
As to the observer firing when on fire, I disagree. The original Blue Max rules (board game 2nd Ed., and miniature rules 3rd Ed.)
did have a specific exemption for an observer firing even when the aircraft was on fire. However, that sentence is not present within the rules on this site. Therefore, an observer firing guns while the plane is on fire is either; 1) a design bug in the site's code, or 2) a "bug" in the hacked up game rules as used on this site. Whichever it may be, something needs to be corrected.
