ἀσπίδι μὲν Σαΐων τις ἀγάλλεται͵
In the shield some Saian takes pride,
ἣν παρὰ θάμνῳ͵
which beside a bush,
ἔντος ἀμώμητον͵
the irreproachable armour,
κάλλιπον οὐκ ἐθέλων·
abandoned I unwillingly.
τί μοι μέλει ἀσπὶς ἐκείνη;
What is to me that shield?
ἐρρέτω·
Let it go to ruin.
ἐξαῦτις κτήσομαι οὐ κακίω.
Again I'll get one not any worse.
