Was a stall that bad of a move in this case? He was doing a 3 (as we know). I accept the scenerios explained-but I admit I never considered them. I assumed he was alright and stalled for the turn. Not too stupid on a normal basis. Then again, I AM dead.

If it were only two planes - then yes, a stall wasn't a bad move. However, you were out numbered 3 to 1 and Telemachus' wingmen had a chance to shoot at you (That's where stalls get really deadly!)
Redwom, you had some tough luck since this situation comes up very rarely. I know because I've had my tail blasted off in a couple of similar situations - where I got shot at zero hexes. It's a tough lesson to learn, but now I allow for rare situations (like this) to occur.
