I probably don't play as many 'league games' as some of you folks and haven't gotten caught by it yet. However, I too frequently stumble into these "Simple Rules" games on the regular board. I'd say most of them are set up by new players, thinking it will let them ease themselves into the game system. I don't really think it helps learn the game. I say they should start playing at the middle setting. You learn more about how to play with "tailing" than you do with seeing your damage add up.
