As this happens after firing you fired fine in turn 6 with no trouble and you couldn't see that in turn 6 but in the start of turn 7. When you started turn 7 you should have seen the special damage report on the jammed gunnery. And for that reason you could not fire in turn 7.
Everything is normal as far as you had the message displayed on turn 7 (before moving) and not in turn 6 as it was impossible to show it then.

Thanks for all the replies guys -- I guess that I missed the "Jammed guns" message at the start of turn 7.
So while Im sure it wasnt there (and I accept that it was) I guess that I was too busy trying to work out how to fight off two of the dastardly Hun to realise that my observer was telling me his gun was jammed. Oh well - stiff upper lip and all of that.
As for the message from Lord Loquox -- Im sure that you will have plenty of oppertunity to repay me in kind and put some holes in my "bus" before I get back to my airfield
