| | Message text The problem with 16 games is that if I only did four moves per day, other players would have to wait 3 days. This would put pressure on me and reduce the fun.
I agree that starting the next four games only after the first four are all done creates a lot of downtime. My suggestion would be to have a parameter: # of simultaneous games. The league then starts with this many games. When a game is finished, another starts to keep the number of simultaneous games constant. If I were to set-up a Vampiring league, I would set this parameter to 8 so that I would have approximately 4 games going simultaneously. I agree that slower players could build up more games, but the parameter sets the max.
Another idea is to allow a league to have a different number of games. My calculations indicate (8 choose 4 =) 70 games are needed to obtain all 4-player combinations: each player plays 35. Leagues only use 32 of these 70 combinations; it doesn't seem so wrong to use only 16, or even 8!
These suggestions don't seem popular, so I wouldn't worry too much about them. |
