For a long time we've had 5, 7, or 14 day settings for turns in all the games. My friends and I have long talked of a need for 3 day setting. Lot's of folks do a turn a day. I don't even look at games set to 7 or 14 days and I think 5 should be default. Low and behold suddenly we have a 28 day setting. 4 player games of KingMe could take 3 years to finish. Put together a 10 player BlueMax and there's a chance a 25 year-old could die of old age before the game ends. Why 28 days instead of 3? I could even see 2 day settings. The three days limit again? If you look back in the forum you will see several threads talking about it. In them you will find that for a period there has been the possibility to select a 3 days limit. You will even learn that it resulted to be a failure since it created too much automovers. As an example, you went out for the week end and you run the risk to end automoved. Many of these undue automoved didn't like it at all and played less. In short it resulted to be a failure and was deleted since people doesn't like to play against flocks of automovers and, on the other side, the one ended automoving for a week end were really up set and some quit playing. Personally I avoid all games with a time limit under the 7 days, wishing or not wishing you. And many other do the same, that's to say, by selecting a time out limit lower than 7 day you loose about the 30% of the possible players.
If you have a group of players that want to play with a low time out limit, open with them challenge games and you will create games that will probably be as fast as you wish.
For your information I avoid all the games with free placing, and many do like me. Several times, for my fun, when I found large scenarios with free placement opened from a couple of days, I opened the same games without the free placement option and often my game started earlier that the free placement ones. In some occasion my later opened game started and the free placement one didn't at all. |
