Kduke, I have always wondered what the players are talking about when they speak Spanish or Italian. I have suspected something like you discribed was going on. Of course I can always hope they are saying, "Watch out, that fellow is pretty good!" Though my parent language is German, I think it would be rude to speak with another German player in our language when the other players do not understand. Of course there are not many other German players in BM, so that is not likely to be a problem. I llok forward to seeing you in the skies.

Reading through his posts, it does not sound like his definition of "evenly matched" would be the same as it would be for a lot of us.
As to Warrax's question, I did some work with an Italian translator and was curious about the posting so I wrote to her.
She said this is sort of a slang dialect like people might use to kid around. But, though she has never seen this game and had no context, she was able to tell me "It's something about, 'watch out for your fuel use and don't let him exit when he runs out." She wondered what that meant, but of course the meaning is very clear to us.
And W. is write-- they could just send e-mails to each other.
But it's so much more effective when the notes are right there on the game you are playing-- and when you arrogantly assume that the other players won't know what you are talking about.
Yeah, I'd agree with Greif-- those two guys are on my list too. |
