I went to one about 10 years ago and was much impressed. Most of the aircraft were 7/8th scale reproductions, but there were a full scale Dr.I, Sopwith Pup, both with rotary engines, and a full scale Bristol. The 7/8 reproductions, considering we are dealing with small aircraft to begin with, look rather tiny next to the real thing. They consisted mostly of N-17 and SE-5's. Having a chance to listen to and see a rotary engine a/c fly was a real thrill. Check it out if you get a chance. I'm about 4 hours away and will try to make it on Friday and perhaps Saturday. Lots of photo ops, I hope, plus the museum itself so it should be a fun day. |
