Our late friend Johnny Beamsderfer (pbass111) was a lifelong bass guitar player. I believe he picked his handle from the Fender Precision Bass, also called a P-Bass.
I'm sorry to hear Pbass has passed. I was only thinking of him the other day.
My moniker came from an incident during basic training for the army (British). I was participtaing in an excercise where you have to try to 'stab' your opponent with a rubber knife. However, I was paired up with the hulk's aenemic bigger brother - and I'm only 5'4"!! Every time I tried to stab him, he picked me up by my collar and just threw me away. I was getting rather battered (not to mention pissed off!)
When it was his turn to attack me, I took my belt off (we were fighting in full combats) and just kept swinging the buckle at his head every time he came within reach. (I scored a few hits too! ). The training Sgt saw this and said something like "calm down stiletto blade rebel", and thus my army nickname was born, though it was soon shortened to stiletto rebel! I've used it ever since. |
