Message text We just deleted some messages threads from the forum. We were forced to do it for a lot of reasons. They contained insults or charges directed to players. They were against the original spirit that we liked to find here. They were not following the usual set of Netiquette rules:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netiquette The last (but not least important) rule says:
If you believe someone has violated netiquette, send him or her a message by private e-mail; do not post a follow-up to the offending post. Be polite. The author may not have realized his or her mistake, may be a beginner, or may not even have been responsible for the "crime" - his or her account may have been used by someone else, or the address may have been forged. Furthermore, a person who breaks netiquette over and over may be doing it intentionally to disrupt the group (see Internet troll http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll ), in which case public flaming is feeding the troll.
This is the proper way to handle this matter: If you think there is someone who deserve your criticism, write politely to him. If he doesn't give you proper response and continue his bad behaviour, write a mail to me ( postmaster@youplay.it ), and I will take the proper moves. Anyway, please, don't write anything bad about anyone in the forum.
In the end all this showed us the limits of the current forum engine. Site traffic is growing every day, so we need to split our forum in several areas (one for each game) and we need moderators for the forum too, because we are no more able to follow at the same time the site development, and the problems that could arise from the forum itself. This will be our next work for the site, so for a little while may be other game improvements will have to wait.
Now, some short words about YouPlay philosophy. This site is only about games, and should not be used for a war against cheaters. Cheating is not fun. Sooner or later any cheater will learn that he is doing a lot of work for nothing. There is no gain into being at the first place in our site statistics. If you are there because you deserve it, your only gain is to be able to look to yourself and say "I did it!". If you went there cheating, when you will look to yourself you will only ask "why did I lose all this time doing this?".
Playing is a pleasure. Winning is a pleasure too, but only if you don't cheat. If you are a cheater, there is no pleasure in winning and no pleasure in playing. On the other hand, there is no greater pleasure than winning against overwelming forces, or even simply trying to. This is how a cheater (I 'd say "a presumed cheater") should be looked at: a greater challenge. Better again, to give you that challenge, a cheater is not having fun, so he's doing it just for your fun.
On the long run all cheaters learn this lesson. Sometimes they are cheating just to see if the site allowed them to do it. Sometimes they think this is a good way to step faster to the statistics top, but in the end every cheater will learn that cheating is not what he really wants. He really wants to have fun, as everyone here wants. When he learn that, he became a good players, as almost all of us.
Beside that, there is another reason because it is not a good idea to write in the forum the name of a presumed cheater: because may be he is not a cheater at all.
Nobody can say it for sure, not even me. Even if there are 2 or more players logging in from the same IP, at the same time, and playing perfectly sinchronized, I can't be completely sure they are the same person. They can just be collegues from the same big company (this explain the same IP and the same hour), and they can be playing together the same game since lots of years (and this will explain the sinchronicity).
So, we cannot tolerate any new personal war on the forum. I have to ask you a favour: please, try to be gentle, wise, and tollerant (yes, with cheaters too ) and be respectful to Netiquette! This forum is a great tool to exchange opinions about games, tactics, strategy and so on, but is not a pillory nor the right site for personal or political matters. Even if you consider a subject very important for the whole humanity, if it is not game related this is not the right place for it.
