Knights of the Air was better written and had a much better game board. World War I aerial combat game. Similar to Blue Max (q.v.) but with greater complexity and realism. Was also adapted to miniatures rules (if only by individual GMs). Supported by several articles in The General.
On the one hand: people are still playing Chess, Monopoly, Cribbage. Updates don't seem to be necessary.
On the other hand: Many of us would love to see an automated campaign system similar to the league system that was added some time ago. The designers have also added the advanced rules without kill chits. Our local miniatures players made this change a long time ago because it wasn't rewarding enough doing a campaign with the kill chits in. The designers have been providing updates to the game.
The problem with the thread is trying to hold KotA above BM.
On the BoardGameGeek related comments found later in this thread. I find the rating system there extremely helpful. I own 23 of their top 100 rated games. It has been an invaluable resource for me in recommending games for purchase.
I would guess that it might be helpful if more people contributed to this web site. This is a hobby for the site moderators. Their is not enough contribution to push them into constant work on the site. If they really got their act together they would get permission from Phil Hall to create an iPhone/Android version of the game. No guarantees, but that might be worth some cash. |
