I also noticed there is an extensive Newbie guide which I never saw before nor knew that one was being put together. I missed the announcements! I look forward to reading it and trying the game again.
I had missed that announcement too, I only noticed the guide recently (a few weeks ago) while working on WS&IM code. Credits section at the end of the guide says we have to thank Longneck for it - I hadn't time to study all the guide extensively but it looked very nice and useful when I read it Thanks Longneck!
