It would speed up games if both players are like me (and probably you) and sit there on the site logged in. I do admit to not noticing it's my move sometimes. The sound could be useful, as long as it is an option than can be turned off (or on).
Sound is useless IMO. Some of us plays at work so a sound will be hazardous to us. If you have moves to make the page title changes from the regular one.
