You have to choose in which team you want to play before the qualification round begins.
Nevertheless, if you join team 1 but you don't play any of the three qualification games, when the cup begins you can decide to play for team 2.
You find all the details in the rules page on the official cup homepage.
Obviously you can also take into consideration the idea of joining with a single team only.
