Keeping in mind board size, game version and Plane positioning, this, I think, could be interesting, specially for newcomers.

A few generalities:
1. Larger maps favor planes with more fuel and not as much "turning abilities"
2. Smaller maps help planes with less fuel.
3. Snipes and SSD3/D4s are generally considered the best mix of fuel & movement flexibility.
4. N17s and SSD1s are the easiest planes to kill because of their lack of "boxes" and guns. (But play well vs. each other because they are identical.
