When I started playing Blue Max on this site,(not long ago) I used to love to look at the stats of opponents to see who I was up against. It dawned on me that if a player plays in alot of 1 vs 1 games, his win percentage is going to be alot higher than someone who plays in alot of larger games (such as myself). I would love to see a stats such as # of kill vs # of times shot down and even exited with honor. Anyone with me?
I agree that average points scored is the most important and relevant stat from the old statistics page http://www.youplay.it/play/bm_GameStats.asp
On a more serious note... You point out what many here miss, and that is that the size game you play makes a real difference in what kind of stat numbers you generate. I think it is clear that I am a better than average player. My top average score still has a lot to do with almost always playing in large games. Many of the great players on this site play lots of smaller games. Playing the smaller games increases win loss ratio, etc.
I would love to see stats from league games have their own page. People playing a lot of the lopsided games from the advantageous side has irked people for all of the years that I have been here. I would stat this way:
average kill/game (kills - deaths - dishonorable exits) averaged average league points average points average wins average damage percentage sustained average number of pilot killed and explosion chits pulled
The above scores are by league size. So all 6 player leagues would be totaled on one page. There would also be a page for all league play mixed together. Your name would appear in red until you had 5 leagues of a given size finished, and 25 leagues finished for the totaled page. This would make it less annoying when you saw a name with very few games played being tied with you, as they wouldn't be "official" yet, but their scores could still be viewed.
by the way, we have this kind of discussion every six months or so. Usually some one pokes their nose in and tells us how stupid all the stats are. I guess you draw a higher class poster than most.
