I don't know if this was ever suggested before, so please forgive me if it has been previously discussed, but how tough would it be to allow for players on Automove to be replaced by other pilots?
One of the trends I have noticed lately has been fewer open games than when I first joined the site. I know the league system has been attributed with some of the "blame", but there have also been discussions of trying to prevent Autoplayers by using more challenge or password games. It is just not as welcoming to new pilots here as it was a year ago, which I think most agree is not a good thing.
Autoplayers are a pain in the butt, no doubt. If once a player Automoves twice in a row s/he can be replaced by other pilots, would that not greatly improve the site?
The stats might get complicated by partial games, but what if the game played is attributed to the Automover as well as any points and kills up until the time of replacement and the replacement player gets all points, kills and deaths that they are in the game for. Only if the replacement gets the win will s/he get credited for a game played. That way, it is a stats bonus for those willing to take over midway through a game.
Alternatively, the stats could get disregarded for that plane in the game (and all pilots), but I think that may not be feasible for the way the system is set up (i.e. someone and each plane must be accounted for in each game).
Thoughts on such a feature?
Such a feature will be nice for public league. As for private passworded league, it is the creator fault if he/she invited an automover. Therefore no replacement should be allowed.
Another idea is setting player's requirements for joining. For example if you want to play an unbalanced scenario with some veterans; you can set the requirements to 100+ win players.
