In subsequent rounds, if you survive, you will still fly for the same team but will likely be paired with another teammate or fly alone.
Example: Round 1 germans have 7 survive vs allied 6. 1 ally flys against 2 germans, 1 game is 1 on 1 and the other 2 games would still be 2 on 2. This way every suviving pilot flys in the next round. The advantage would be the Germans since they get 1 game of 2 on 1. If the sides become more than a 2 to 1 advantage then the team with the superior numbers will have to rotate their pilots.
