| | Message text Here's all of the information you'll need (I hope) about the upcoming Squadron League 2007 tournament.......
The tournament will start on Sunday 2nd September 2007.
Format
This tournament is a league format. Each squadron plays each other twice "home and away" (i.e. in one game a squadron will be the allies, in the next game the germans).
Each week will feature a new scenario chosen from the 8 player scenarios listed on this site. There will be four players on each side. Each game will use Advanced rules, Default Placement, on a Small 10 x 8 board, with 5 day automove.
The games will be specific passworded games created by myself every sunday night(2 games per week) once the tournament starts (so that access is available at the weekend and during weekdays for anyone who plays at work )
As most squadrons have more than 3 members, it will be up to each squadron leader to select players for each match and ensure that their team register in time for the game. If a game fails to start due a team failing to sign up in time, that team will be deducted a league point.
Entry
The tournament is open between any squadron registered on the Blue Max Squadron Page: http://www.chimpage.com/bluemax/squadrons.html
The deadline for entries is 2359hours (GMT) on 20th August 2007.
Any new squadrons can still be created and enter, but prior to the deadline they need to:
a) Form a squadron that is permanent - not just for playing in the tournament, but for other occasional games against other squadrons - even if it is not that often (otherwise we'll end up with lots of squadrons that are inactive and it will confuse things)
b) The squadron must have at least 4 members (including the squadron leader)
c) Prior to the deadline the squadron's name, the name of its squadron leader, and the name of its members, need to be e-mailed to squadrons@chimpage.com
Scoring
Scoring will be based solely on kills. This year it's OK to retire, as since the last league the "retiring with honour" option has been added to the site. If a pilot is shot down in a game he will be ok to play in any other tournament game.
The most team kills wins the match. If kills are equal, the game is drawn. Teams will be awarded 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. Teams on the same points will be separated by "kill difference" like "goal difference" in football. If this is equal, then it goes down to highest kills etc as in football
If a squadron's pilots fail to sign up in time for a game, the squadron will fofeit the game (automatically losing 4-0) and will lose 1 League Point.
If a squadron's pilot exits the map without honour, he will be classed as shot down by the enemy.
In the event of cheating or "tactical" communication during the game, the squadron involved will forfeit the game and be deducted an additional 6 points.
If neither team manage to subscribe in time then both teams will be deducted 1 point and the game will be declared void.
Results
A link to the results will be posted in the You Play It Forum, and all results will be posted on the following page: http://www.chimpage.com/bluemax/league2007.html
So far, 15 squadrons have entered and will each be playing 28 games over the course of the league.
