This is totally unrealistic! If a fleet were seeing this type of variable wind they would never allow combat! I've lost game after game that flips the wind putting me in chains.
I'm done! Hi Chiggy! having the wind change against your ships is terrible, indeed!
Every three turns a dice is rolled. If it equals or exceed the "wind change number" for that scenario, two more rolls are done to see it if changes force or direction.
Some scenarios have a high wind change number, so the wind is stable, others have a lower number. For example, I have never seen a wind change in the Battle of Lissa, while in the 'The three countries II' scenario I recently had a game where the wind changed like three or four times in the same game.
When the dice is rolled to see if the wind direction changes, these are the possible outcomes, according to WS&IM rules: 1 - Wind shifts back to initial direction 2 - No change in direction 3 - Wind shifts 60 degree clockwise 4 - Wind shifts 60 degree counterclockwise 5 - Wind shifts 120 degree clockwise 6 - Wind shifts 120 degree counterclockwise While there is no 180 degree turn, the first result may actually result in such a turn. Imagine a game where the wind turns 60 degree clockwise, then again another 120 degrees... and then turns back to the initial direction: that's a 180 degree s turn!
Note that the wind changes only in Advanced games... so if you are fed up with it maybe just play some Basic games.. or find scenarios where the wind is more stable! We do not currently show the "wind change number" of the scenarios during game creation, but if you want I can provide you a list so that you can avoid "windy" scenarios |
