I've played in a number of games where a plane has been off centered and generally found it just a nuisance due to difficulty determining its actual location. However, in this game I discovered this lack of definition of location impacts the rules themselves to a major advantage of such planes.
My opponent, flying the red Fok DVII, stalled in front of me and while I did get to shoot at him, I did not get the stalled bonus, a significant one at range 1.
I hope this bug regarding plane location can be fixed, as it is possible for players to deliberately do this; I have done it myself once or twice inadvertently while deploying my plane, but adjusted my location to be in hex before confirming my placement.
In short, an unscrupulous player could choose this sort of deployment in any scenario where a player can place their plane and gain this advantage, in addition to the confusing "stealth" feature often complained about.
