Now the tournament is finished I have two questions:
1) What would you like to see improved for next time?
2) What do you want to do next? I'm happy to organize something else - would you want another tournament or a squadron campaign?
The main thing I'd like to see improvements with, is the creation of games. Too many games were forfeited (23 out of 90) and didn't actually start. The easiest way to avoid this is through a longer passworded game deadline which we'd have to persuade the webmasters to implement. 48hrs is too soon......Also, tougher penalties could be given to squadrons who fail to sign up (eg points deductions, as well as forfeiting the game). I'd also consider letting squadron leaders set up the games next time, although hardly any squadron leaders e-mailed me to tell me games had finished.....so I'm not 100% sure this would work.
I was happy with the scoring as it was simple and made tournament administration much, much easier. There just seems to have been confusion with people retiring honourably and forgetting that doing so gives a kill to the other team. Bombadil suggested an alternative scoring system on another thread which could be an option.
And as for question 2, I would like to see a Squadron Campaign next (as it would be longer, in a few months a new tournament could start as well so two could run at the same time).
Thanks for all the hard work. My biggest complaint is the 4x4 games take a while to complete. My squad is still in a game started 33 days ago and we are only on turn 5. I guess that can happen in any large player game but it would be nice if squad games were played by fast movers. |
