I would like to join a squadron, but I don't know how, and I'm not sure what my responsibilities are. Could a senior flight instructor let me know how/why/what please? And thank you.
There's two options really if you want to join a squadron.....the first is of course to join an existing squadron, of which there are currently 12. However, I'm not sure which squadrons are currently recruiting, if any, as many of them are already quite "full"....
Many of the squadrons are formed by groups of friends who usually fly together in scenarios.....which has meant that some people found it easier (and more fun) to create their own squadrons. If you were to go down this route, it would be quite straight forward. All you need is ideally at least 3 or 4 members (including yourself), a squadron name, a designated squadron leader (who is the main point of contact).....and that's pretty much it. You can always recruit more members afterwards (the 10th Irregulars are a shining example of this, started by cheepicus on his own and formed in about a week). Once formed you just need to e-mail me the above details to shakeysquadron@chimpage.com and I'll add you to the Squadron list: http://www.chimpage.com/bluemax/squadrons.html
It's then up to you how far you want to take it. You can just organize games yourself with other squadrons when you feel like it, or take part in any squadron tournaments/campaigns....or go quite far with the idea like my squadron has done: http://www.chimpage.com/bluemax/shakeysqdn.html
It really can make playing blue max much more fun
