This is just a thought, but we could define games as home or away. Home teams make a challenge game including the players he selects, whilst the away team sends a list of four active players. That way, one of the squadron leaders has to e-mail another squadron once with a name list, and recieves one list to set up the challenge game himself.

Would that work?
