| | Message text I just wanted to expand on the idea about pilot experience people thought of in the "wishlist".
Firstly, I think that there would (as other people have said)be problems if special skills were awarded to pilots with more experience. New pilots would be lambs to the slaughter Although this would probably be realistic in the context of WW1, it probably would turn a lot of new pilots away.
If special skills were used, they'd need to only give a minor advantage and I'd say that the best ones would be:
"Cannot be tailed" by other aircraft "Longer Tail" - a pilot can tail other aircraft at an extra hex range
"No deflection" - a pilot isn't affected by the deflection penalty when firing "Easy Unjamming" - an experienced pilot unjams his guns using any move, not just a straight move
I was wondering if experience could be linked to a new statistics page somehow, so that depending on your statistics you achieve a rating.
You could have a 5-star rating system: * = New Recruit (or maybe Fokker Fodder ) ** = Novice *** = Veteran **** = Ace ***** = Blue Max Legend
Each rating could have a special skill: * New Recruit = no special skill ** Novice = "Easy unjamming" *** Veteran = "Longer Tail" **** Ace = "No deflection" ***** Legend = "Cannot be tailed"
I'm not quite sure how to link it to the statistics, but I thought that the rating could be linked to some sort of kill/game ratio or points ratio. Other people have suggested that shooting down someone in a one-on-one duel would get something like 10 points, and in a 10 player game something like 50 points.
What if something like that was applied, but when you're shot down you lose 10 points or 30 points etc? That would mean someone could become a legend, then lose their status and become just a veteran if they keep getting shot down.
What does everyone think? I'm just firing ideas here - This is only a rough idea that someone else could develop better than I can, and when it's a better idea it can be considered by our webmasters. I know the webmasters are extremely busy so we'd be limited by whatever is easiest for them to implement |
