For the past well, I am not in the management and marketing of the game: I am just the designer. So I can not answer about supposed mistakes by the company. In any case...
The product is not "Italian", it's international. The offices of the company are in Italy, the factory in China, the warehouse in USA. That's globalization.  By the way, Kickstarter is very US-oriented. A wholly Italian company could not have opened a Kickstarter, as far as I know.
If you refer to shipping of Sails of Glory from the previous Kicklstarter campaign, anyway, there have been solutions to avoid the problem you quote. For example, during the Kickstarter the Italian distributor Red Glove took orders at the same conditions of pledges, to be managed from Italy with local shipping:
