The campaign will run from Jan-Nov 1918.
So it will last 11 month in real life?
Currently I plan to run one mission per virtual pilot per campaign month. If it turns out that missions are being completed quicklöy I can increase the mission load to two per campaign month. Initially there will be one Allied Squadron and one German Jasta with twelve planes and pilots each. The front they will fly and fight over will be divided into four sectors, with each sector getting one of the below listed missions each month (Unless we increase mission frequency). The Campaign Manager (Me) will notify the Squadron/Jasta Leader which sectors have which missions. The Squadron/Jasta Leader will setup game and the mission will be flown. Results of each mission will be reported to me and I will track the campaign stats. The Squadron/Jasta Leader tracks their unit losses and assigns replacements. They also turn in the losses to me so I can keep track of the overall stats in that area.
The admin work sound reasonable, so 4 games per each campaign month is not a heavy loading to any player. But would it be a bit conservative then?
mission ... ...
Squadron/Jasta Compostion will follow the posted Aircraft Availability Chart (AAC). A total of 6 planes are available as replacements each month. If losses exceed replacements, the Squadron/Jasta flys short planes. In order to avoid having to develop excessive scenarios to take every possible loss into account, planes that could not fly the mission will immediately exit the map. I will keep track of losses based on reports of the Squadron/Jasta Leader and assign replacement planes. Lost planes will be replaced with the same type.
that sound realistic too good thinking grief8.
Pilot management. This campaign uses the "Dead is Dead" approach. If shot down in flames or with a Pilot Killed chit, the pilot is dead and his stats are no longer updated. The player either goes to the bottom of the replacement pool, if we have enough players to have one, or returns to the Squadron/Jasta as a brand new pilot. If not shot down in flames or with a PK chit, the Squadron/Jasta Leader rolls a 6 sided die. 1-4 the pilot is KIA. 5-6 the pilot managed to land and returns to duty.
You may have a look of the WWI campaign site in the link page in yahoo. we have run a pilot testing a year ago.
Plane assignement will be based on "Blue Max" rankings in the kill ratio column of the stats. Squadron/Jasta leaders are exempted, and my choose their plane first regardless of their kill ratio ranking. They have more work to do and should be rewarded somehow! Once the campaign is going, lost pilots returning as new pilots will be assigned planes by the Sqaudron/Jasta leader as he sees fit. Well that is it. I will post the AAC on another thread. Also, the scenarios must either be developed to support the mission types, or existing scenarios modified. I am not sure how much work is involved for the webmasters to do such a thing. Once enough interest is shown and the two leaders have been identified we can discuss the plane mix for the missions. Sincerely, Greif8 For mission ask MH or gugliandalf.
Count me in as a German Pilot pls Can I choose the pilot, if so, I would be Hans Muller - http://www.theaerodrome.com/aces/germany/muller1.html
