By the way, are you running windows xp as I would guess? What was your way around the problems? Also, there are so many patches for the game, its a little overwhelming which ones you need or don't need. I have the Sold out version I bought on ebay. If I install this with the go around xp problem, will the superpatch be all I need? Can this game not be played online in Multiplayer form? I'm curious in that how do online players get everything in sync with so many versions and patches around?
Hey, I just reinstalled RedBaron, and Full canvas Jacket, etc. There is a patch you can down load to make Redbaron run on Xp. If you go to http://www.plgrafix.com/index2.html then go to patches and Updates: FCJ Updates, then curser down to a file called RBII to 3D Superpatch or (rb3d_spr.exe, 11.2M) This will patch your RedBaronII to RedBaron3D. That should allow it to work on XP. If you have the Full Canvas Jacket superpatch, (You need to purchase it) there is an odd series of things you need to do to make it work. The problem being, the FCJ patch was not created by the folks that make RedBaron3D, but by a group of programers who had to play some games to get it to work. The FCJ Superpatch is pretty cool, but as someone mentioned already, it's more difficult to fly and play. Two of the things I have trouble with is; 1: they have made the plane flight engine very authentic, which means your plane is well underpowered, especially in the early war, and I tend to stall alot. (Not like BlueMax, but a true, come to a near stop and then the nose drops and heads for the ground screaming, and the wings rip off, kind of a stall! Yikes!! ) 2: I can't see airplanes below me very well, as they tend to blend into the ground. It's still a great game, but the orignal game is worth playing as well.
Good information - thanks - I had read of another way around the Xp problem. So you installed it an the patch you named above and no problems with XP? I live in Nashville - apparently Kess, Mitchell Kent, is the programmer responsible for FCJ and he lives somewhere out here. I didn't hear you say anything about multiplayer on FCJ - possible or not? I've played various flight simulators - they can be more frustrating than always fun. I sort of enjoy a happy medium in between. I need to try Il2 online - Grief maybe we can arrange for a day for you to meet me up there. |
