Message text Perhaps you have not played the wrong people?
I have a game (154361) where I challenged 10 people, by name, who I know and have experienced to be fast players. (As in able to make moves every few minutes.) Even with players of that speed, the game is now in the 19th day, with 14 moves. And those are excpetionally fast and regular movers.
Try playing with people who are enrolled in 100+ games where they make 10-20 moves (total, not per game) per day, and with 10 players you are *easily* looking at games that are doing *well* to finish within 30 days. The vast majority taking longer than that. I've had 10 player games take three months.
Heck, you get the wrong opponent on an open challenge, and that 2-player game could take three months. (When I first came back here last June, there was still games in the 5300-number range that were in progress.)
I just picked a player at random, DBurkeG since he in this thread, as an example. Disregharding game number 47000-something, his second oldest game was created 69 days ago. (Not that it is necessarily his fault, but this is an example of large games dragging out.) Those sorts of games are not hard to find, nor be accidentally involved in.
