| Message text Okay, I read a post concerning team play and how many simply play for themselves in team play. After some thought, this is generally pretty true. In most if not all team games I've been on, its really a race to get as many firing opportunities as possible to increase one's own score without the slightest concern for whether the team/side wins or not. I have definetly witnessed a couple of guys get their wounded planes off the board while ahead, while not even attempting to help out when my plane is actually worse off at the exact moment (as evidenced after the game). I will not name their names.
I think you need to do something different with the statistics especially with the new version coming out. Many good players have great win loss records whereas many other "good" players do not simply because they play in larger games. If all you do is 1 on 1 and win 1/3 of your games, you appear as a better player than many out here whereas in reality, you may not be. On the other hand you can play in 8 and 10 player games and seldom win. There have been times where a player does something for the team where it will surely cost them the chance to be the "GAME'S WINNER". For myself, and I bet I'm not the only one who thinks this, I'll join large games for the chance to shoot 2 or more planes down and thus try to improve my kills/death ratio - despite my aggressive playing style.
That said there needs to be something for stats incorporated for team game wins vs one on one game wins. In this endeavor, you will encourage team play which at the moment, is not that important.
I propose that you come up with a column for 1 vs 1 wins, TEAM WINS IN WHICH YOU ARE ON THE SIDE THAT PREVAILS, and then add the two up for total wins. To motivate people not to just sit back when the team is ahead or about to win, I'd say give the individual winner an extra win for having the high score and being on the winning side. I suggest you keep the old stats page up for reference and start a new Blue Max stat page that incorporates the new rules from scratch.I certainly think that this will give people a sense of a fresh start while not minimizing the performances of the past. |
