flying neko,
You may not have meant to make fun of his name, but instead of suggesting it may be his real name, you were quick to point out what it sounded like.
Steve
Let me explain something to you Steve.
I am not a native English speaker so it is rather hard for me to figure what are the odds of a name being real or not. I do know that "Smith", "Bush" and "Blair" are Anglo-Saxon names, but I have no idea if they are common or not. I haven't the faintest idea if names such as "Hunt", "Game", "Prey", "Rifle" or "Deer" exist and/or are common in the English-speaking world.
Neither can I tell if a pun on a name is obvious enough to the native English-speaking ear to make it unusable. All examples I can think of in my own mother tongue are so ridiculous no-one would consider using them as his/her child's name. Puns are extremely hard to understand and correctly frame for people who don't have a perfect grasp of the language they're spoken in.
So I had to think for maybe five minutes to work out what the whole topic was about, and I did not have the cultural means to weigh the chances of that name being real or not. If I had met Micheal in a game, I would have never realised on my own that a joke could be made on his name. For this reason, I was posting to explain the situation to other fellow YouPlayers who have trouble with the English language (I think we are a majority here).
If you have even a faint grasp of any other language except English, you will understand what I'm talking about. Otherwise, I would encourage you to go ahead and broaden your cultural horizons.
I am sorry if I have been careless in posting, of course.
As a last remark, I think you might want to look up on your encyclopedia what are the effects of pouring petrol on a fire, though.
